An Invitation to Act

Every day, homeless and at-risk women with children turn to the one place where they know they'll find safety, a helping hand, and the opportunity to improve their lives. That place is Hope House.

Since 2005, Hope House's programs have provided hope to women with children, to overcome the pain of feeling alone, abandoned, and forgotten. We welcome them with open arms, providing expert care and unconditional love. All of our programs and services build upon the interests, skills, and gifts that are unique to each woman and her children. We also target critical issues and problems and offer solutions.

Our ability to reach the many lives we touch is made possible from individuals and organizations who are strongly committed to saving an otherwise overlooked, disadvantaged homeless population. I am very proud to be a part of this great mission. If you are already a partner with us, I say “Thank you”. If you or your organization is looking for a way to get more involved with saving women with kids from the streets, I invite you to join us.

Everyone Working Together

Dave Hessler, Shannon Bezak, Hugo Gervais, Bill Clark, Kendra Brown, Karen Schrick, Lorraine Vannoy and Rene Evans comprise what Emerging Hope calls the Ethics Advisory Committee (EAC). This team serves as the accountability partners for the women they assess for placement in the Hope House. These committed and thoughtfully discerning individuals give their time to this team for one reason: they believe in the families that enter the Hope House Program.

This team meets every third Friday and rotates the womens appointments so that every guest has a chance to meet with the EAC and receive guidance, encouragement and updated Family Action Plans for their respective family situations. Some need help to work on finances, some on employment, others on education, parenting skill sets and goal setting. Whatever their need, the EAC proves over and over again to be an outstanding asset to these families by the sound advice and wisdom they share with the women. The team also serves as a referral source to internal and external agency team members who work personally with women and their children to assist them with specific tasks and ultimately help them meet their goals.

Emerging Hope considers itself lucky to have each and every member of this team. Each brings a different skillset, personal history, spiritual gift (or two) and each member brings a sense of dedication that is truly amazing. We also wish to thank our community partners for supporting this program with a wealth of dedication and assistance. Without all of our team members, this program could not consider itself a success. Thanks to everyone involved, we can!

A special thank you to the EAC for your dedication to this program and to the women and children of El Dorado County! Keep up the good work!

It's a BRAND NEW Year!

Dear Hope House Ministries Supporter,

At Hope House Ministries (HHM) we strive to break the cycle of homelessness for generations to come.

This year, we have had four graduating families who no longer fear for thier existence. They have been the beneficiaries of thousands of volunteer hours of service and have learned new life skills to accompany them for the rest of their lives.

By collaborating with an array of community-based organizations and private sector companies, Hope House Ministries is working towards bringing all of our programs to excellence and increasing the number of transitional housing units available to our community.

We have been teaching our families to protect themselves by learning to manage their finances, feed their children healthy foods, promote self esteem and learn many other skills that they were unaware of when they first came to our program.

Because of your support in 2007, fewer families are out there struggling to survive, our moms can now manage their lives and are teaching those skills to their own children.

Your continued support is vital as we look forward to our goal of reaching even more families in our community with this program. If you or your organization is interested in using our format as a model for your own 'Hope House', please contact us and we can show you how we ensured the success of our program. We can train your organization to create its own success stories!

There is always more work to do, more families in need and we are here to help you develop your own program for your church or organization for the future of El Dorado County.

Our warmest thanks for your past support and best wishes for the new year!
